Adhesives are used to adhere or join two items together. Initially, resin manufacturers produced them from the resins and gums of plants. Now, thanks to latest technology, there are synthetic adhesives available that give good results and are used extensively.

Industrial adhesives are used extensively for commercial purposes. However, adhesive manufacturers also cater to residential customers and produce adhesives suitable for our everyday lives. From fixing a broken item to packaging in industries, adhesives are used everywhere.

In order to understand their uses it is better to break them into two main categories – industrial and residential – so that one can properly understand how important they have become over a period of time.

Industrial Use

Adhesives are used in big and small industries alike. They play a vital role from manufacturing to packaging. From food industry to stationery items, adhesives are used everywhere.

Since adhesives can be toxic it is very important for resin manufacturers to use them wisely as some of these may come in direct contact with a person, such as the adhesives used to hold a lipstick to its base.

In addition to small industries, adhesives are commonly used in big industries as well. Furniture, construction and auto industries use adhesives very commonly. Machines and automobiles are made from several parts that are often kept together with the help of adhesives.

In furniture and construction adhesives are used to hold pieces together. The right type of adhesive depends on the purpose and the material that adhesives are required for.

Household Use

We might not even realize how useful adhesives are until we pay attention to how widely they are used in our day to day lives. From rejoining broken items to sticking images, these are used frequently at home and also at schools. Students often keep them in their bags in the form of cello tapes or glue sticks as you never know when you might be need them.

Epoxy manufacturers in USA have fortunately realized how big of a market they have and are extensively working towards producing high quality adhesives for residential use. Understandably, different types of techniques are used in producing household adhesives as these are used for different purposes. Additionally, in homes these are not generally used to hold big items together, unlike in industries where often big parts are joined with adhesives and require several hours to dry.

Residential adhesives generally work faster than commercially used adhesives. These are also faster than other common methods used to keep items together such as mechanical or thermal fastening. Plus, these are not only used to join metals but several other components.

When you use adhesives for any purpose it is important to be careful. The first thing is to buy the right adhesive as one adhesive may not be suitable for every kind of purpose. This generally depends on the items you wish to bond with the help of adhesives. Secondly, you need to apply adhesives carefully and give the joint enough time to dry for the result to be good.
